Cheddar Car Boot Sale and Market has been a South West institution since 1996, set in a picturesque lakeside spot just one mile from the world-famous Cheddar Gorge and ringed by the Mendip Hills. With both indoor halls and a large outdoor concrete pitch area, it runs come rain or shine and draws around 150 stalls every week.

It opens every Sunday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, February to December. Buyers pay £2 entry. Outdoor seller pitches start at £10 for a car (£14 car with trailer, £12 pickup or small van, £16 SWB van, £20 LWB van). Indoor 10ft spaces are £8 April to September and £10 October to March, with 12ft spaces a little more. No booking is needed—just turn up.

Expect a genuine mix of car booters and a permanent market of butchers, greengrocers, bakers and cheesemongers. On-site you'll find several car parks, permanent toilets, a large café, 'The Hut' serving barista coffee, an ice cream van and a cash point. The site is wheelchair and mobility-scooter friendly, and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
