The Cheddar Carboot Sale and Market was established in 1996 and has since become recognized as one of the most established and popular sites in the South West. It is situated only one mile away from the world-renowned Cheddar Gorge and is located adjacent to a working farm in a picturesque lakeside setting, surrounded by the Mendip Hills.

Chedder operates every Sunday (Feb-Dec), regardless of the weather, and offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor facilities. The organizers are committed to providing a family-friendly environment that is not only conducive to buying and selling but also to socializing and enjoying quality time together as a family.

Requirements

The market organizers strictly prohibit the sale or possession of certain items on the premises. These include counterfeit goods such as designer clothes, DVDs, bags, t-shirts, and similar items. Stolen goods are also strictly prohibited. Additionally, the sale or possession of live animals, real, replica or toy guns, dangerous weapons, fireworks or any item that may cause fire is not allowed. Cigarettes, tobacco, and alcohol are also not permitted, as well as ‘fun snaps’.

Visitors must also take note that food and drinks are not allowed to be sold by car boot sellers as concessions are available for these items. All unsold goods and rubbish must be taken home, and no large items are to be left behind as these will be considered fly-tipping and will be reported to the local authorities.

Dogs are welcome at the market provided that they are friendly and sociable. However, their owners must clear up any mess immediately and take it with them. Dogs must not be left inside cars.

The market is only open on Sundays from 6.00 AM to 2.00 PM. Visitors are reminded that during the market’s closed hours, the site is private property, and therefore, dogs or their owners are not allowed to enter the premises for walking or exercising. This also applies to walkers and riders.
