Hillside Carboot Sale is a family-run sale set across 13 acres of grass at Hillside Nurseries, Basingstoke Road, Alton (GU34 4BH). Running since 1990, it takes place every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from Easter through to the end of September in the rolling hills of Alton, just off the A339 Basingstoke to Alton road for quick, queue-free access.
Gates open at 7:00 AM for both sellers and buyers, running until 1:00 PM. Buyer entry is £1 per adult between 7AM and 8AM, then 50p from 8AM onwards; children, disabled visitors and senior citizens over 65 go free. Seller pitches are £10 for any size of vehicle, or £5 for charities. No booking is required and entry is never refused, so just turn up on the day.
Expect around 50 stalls of bargains, with a modern cafe (including takeaway), a children's playground and plenty of on-site parking. Disabled facilities cover both the cafe and toilets, and dogs are welcome on the premises. Affordable pricing has made it the best-value boot sale in the area, drawing visitors from as far as London.
