York Christmas Market, also known as the St Nicholas Fair, takes over Parliament Street and the surrounding streets of York (YO1 8SG) each festive season. Running from mid-November through to just before Christmas, it fills the city centre with around 70 wooden chalets showcasing small businesses and independent makers from across the country.
The market opens daily from 10:00 AM, with stalls trading through to early evening. Entry is completely free, so there is no charge to wander the festive streets. York Card holders and local residents can also unlock special discounts from many of the traders dotted around the fair.
Expect a brilliant mix of creative gifts, luxury stationery, handmade crafts and plenty of food and drink, from Yorkshire pudding-flavoured beer to a Swiss-style alpine dining chalet. There is hardstanding underfoot, nearby parking, public toilets, hot refreshments throughout, and dogs are welcome as you browse.
