Most car boot sales are held on grass and close for the winter, usually between late September and the end of October. These 142 sales publish no closed season, so they are the ones still running between November and March, each with its day, opening times, entry fee and directions.
50 of them are held indoors or under cover, which makes them the safest bet on a wet or frozen morning. The most are in the South West (23), the South East (21) and Greater London (18).
Running all year does not mean every date goes ahead. Outdoor winter sales still stop for snow, ice and waterlogged ground, and indoor ones for events at the venue, so check each card's next date and the organiser's page on the morning.
Every sale on this page publishes no closed season on its schedule, which is what we mean by open all year. A sale is not listed here just because it has a date in November: seasonal sales that happen to run late drop off as soon as their season ends.
For a single month, use the "Open in" filter on any page, for example December, which is answered from each sale's actual upcoming dates rather than its season.
Opening times can change with the season, and the ground rather than the calendar often decides whether an outdoor sale goes ahead after heavy rain or a frost. Check the time and next date on each card, and the organiser's page on the morning, rather than relying on what you saw in the summer.
Sellers: winter sales are usually quieter on both sides of the table, and pitches are generally paid on the gate, so ring ahead if you want to be sure of a space. A waterproof cover for your table is worth packing at any outdoor sale.
From late November we also list 4 Christmas markets. They are not car boot sales, since pitches are booked with the operator, but they fill the gap on many winter weekends.

Some do. Most field sales close between late September and the end of October, but sales held indoors, under cover or on hard standing such as car parks often run all year. Every sale on this page publishes no closed season.
They can be. There are fewer sellers than in summer, but also fewer buyers, so there is less of a rush in the first hour and less competition for what is there. The main risk is a wasted trip, so check the next date on the listing and the organiser's page on the morning.
Warm layers, waterproof boots and gloves you can handle coins in, since outdoor sales can be muddy or icy. Take cash in small notes and coins, a strong bag, and a torch if the sale opens before sunrise. Sellers should add a waterproof cover for the table and weights for anything that could blow away.
They can be. Outdoor sales still stop for snow, ice or waterlogged ground, and indoor ones for events at the venue. Check the next date on the listing and the organiser's page on the morning before you travel.
Use the "Open in" filter and pick the month. It checks each sale's upcoming dates, so a sale whose season has ended will not appear.
Enter your postcode in the search above and we sort every one of the 142 by distance from you.
Most open to buyers between 8am and 10am and wind down by early afternoon. The earliest opens to buyers at 5am. Sellers usually arrive an hour earlier to set up. Every listing shows the opening times for buyers and sellers.
71 of the 142 sales listed on this page are free for buyers. The 50 that charge ask 50p to £7 per adult, typically £1. Use the entry filter to show free sales only. Sellers typically pay £10 a pitch, more for a van or trailer; the exact price is on each listing.
